In a world where children are surrounded with stimulation;  working hard, playing harder and often measured by how much they have achieved in a day it can be difficult for them to listen to their bodies and find a state of relaxation  (some adults find this difficult too!). There are many children’s yoga benefits that I can attest to seeing in my own children and many others.

The ancient science of Yoga promotes health and well-being through uniting body and mind to build strength, awareness and flexibility. The benefits of Yoga extend to all ages regardless of physical ability and state of health. In fact, Yoga is super fun for children it’s not all about serious poses.

What is Children’s Yoga and why do it?
Children’s yoga celebrates uniqueness and individuality as part of a strong family community with everyone working together. We have tons of fun by encouraging Parents and Children to work together to grow and support each other. As you can imagine the energy created in a children’s yoga session is super high and we get very active so be prepared to get some cardio (although not too much)

Children who practice Yoga develop important skills including coordination and balance, listening to each other and expressing themselves clearly whilst having fun in a non-competitive and non-judgmental environment.  Even at an early age children can feel pressure both socially and academically, aside from competitive sports. It is so easy for girls and boys to become overly self-critical and loose confidence in themselves as they grow and change but Yoga can help!  Not everybody does yoga poses perfectly and this is not the aim of yoga. The aim is to respect and pay attention to our own bodies to ensure poses feel good and to come out of them when we are ready – an important skill.

Children’s Yoga is aimed at children 5 – 9 years old. Children’s yoga benefits of engaging in activities and developing communication across age brackets helps child development. Activities are suitable for mixed ages and abilities – one of the beauties of Yoga is we can all share the space together.

This is a non-exhaustive list of some of the benefits of Yoga for Children:
